Terms of service

Last updated: October 2026 · Plain-language summary of how the service works. The signed pilot or subscription agreement is the document that governs; where the two disagree, the agreement wins, and nothing here limits liability it doesn't say to limit. Have counsel review before this goes public.

What you're agreeing to

You (a business) get logins to Strand for your team. You use it to run your jobs; we keep it running, backed up, and patched. In exchange you pay the fee in your agreement and treat the data in the system as yours to manage.

The service

  • We host it. Strand runs on infrastructure we operate. We take scheduled backups off-box and test restores; the specifics (frequency, retention, restore targets) live in your agreement.
  • It's a console, not your ledger. Strand tracks the job. Your accounting system and your ERP, if you have them, stay the systems of record for money and inventory. Where Strand shows numbers from those systems, it shows what they reported.
  • Availability. We aim to keep it up around the clock and we tell you honestly when it's down. Strand is a small hosted service, not a hyperscaler; if your business truly needs an ironclad uptime credit, negotiate it in the agreement.
  • Changes. We ship features and retire unused ones. If something you depend on is going away for real, we give notice in the product first.

Your responsibilities

  • Keep your logins to yourself and tell us the same day if one goes missing (we can revoke sessions immediately).
  • What you put in is yours and you're responsible for having the right to put it there.
  • Don't break the system open: no probing other customers' data, no circumventing permissions, no hammering the API beyond ordinary use.

Your data, and getting out

Your data is yours. You can export it and delete jobs or contacts any time from the app. If you leave, we hand you a structured export, hard-delete your tenant (rows and files) after the period in your agreement, and offboarding is a documented procedure we've tested, not a favor. Data handling details (what we store, sub-processors, security) are in the privacy page.

Pilot engagements

Design-partner pilots come with a fixed engagement (a floor of $15k, which filters the non-serious) covering work built from your paperwork: your document formats, your flows. What we build under the pilot is configured for your tenant and stays available to you for your subscription term; the underlying product and its general machinery stay ours. Exact scope and IP terms are in the pilot agreement.

Liability, termination, the usual

Money-losing bugs genuinely matter to distributors, so we take them seriously and fix them fast; the law still requires us to cap what we're liable for, and the cap (tied to fees you've paid) is in the agreement. Either side can end it as the agreement describes; if we shut down entirely, you get notice and your export.
